Senior Professional Land Surveyor/Department Head

Our Eureka, CA office has an immediate need for a CA Licensed Senior Professional Land Surveyor (PLS). Familiarity with our local geographic region essential! Survey duties include a wide variety of field tasks including: boundary, topographic, and construction surveys for all phases of residential subdivisions, commercial development and public works projects

(will work outside in all weather conditions and in difficult or irregular terrain); and performing survey calculations and drafting.

 

SHN's Senior Professional Surveyor must be a leader who is able to inspire others.  The primary function of this Senior Professional Surveyor position is to manage the Eureka Survey Services department and support the Survey Services Director by acting as their local representative; to oversee the technical quality of projects; to hire, train, and retain technical staff; to commit technical resources to projects; and to perform business development activities in conjunction with the Regional Managers. Successful candidates will have proven ability to lead a small department, perform professional level survey field and office work, and a willingness to be a

team player in a highly charged environment.

 

Education/Registrations/Certifications:

 

* A Registered Professional Land Surveyor

 

* Familiarity with local principles, rules, and regulations governing land surveying as defined in the California code

 

* Graduation from an accredited survey/geomatics program (preferred)

 

* Proficient with conventional, GPS, and robotic equipment, and experience with AutoCAD and Land Development Desktop is essential. (Specifically: Leica 1200 series robotic total station; Carlson SurvCE data collection software; Trimble GPS equipment; ACAD/LDD 2007; and ACAD Civil 3D)

 

* Must be a U.S. citizen or be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship

 

* Must possess a valid California Driver's License by hire date
